Presets get an early quote moving, but the equipment arriving on site decides the real load. Ask every caterer, band, bar and amusement supplier for watts, phase and outlet details before the distribution plan is signed off.

Common questions

Why is the recommendation in kVA instead of kW?

Generators are commonly rated in kVA while equipment nameplates often show watts or kW. This planner uses a 0.8 power factor, so 8 kW of design load needs about 10 kVA before selecting a standard hire size.

Does the calculator allow for motors starting?

Yes. It compares a 25 percent running-headroom result with the running load plus the largest selected motor-start allowance, then uses whichever is higher. Actual equipment nameplates and starting methods still take priority.

Can I connect event equipment myself?

The result is for planning a supplier conversation. A licensed electrician or generator supplier must confirm phases, outlets, distribution boards, earthing, cable protection, fuel and the actual equipment schedule.
